Tips and Words of Wisdom in Project Success Including Off-Shore and Near -Shore Development Resources

Product Articles for Success

As Product Managers with decades of development experience, we often get asked for tips, keys, and words of wisdom for successful software development projects. Some questions are related to start-up success while others are about off-shore/near-shore development. We are providing articles for both topics here. Off-shoring /near-shoring development can be a significant boom for an organization, with low development costs, and the ability to vary their development and operational costs based on their own business needs and targets. However, we find numerous horror stories littered across numerous organizations that fall into the trap of believing that all off-shore or near-shore development organizations are similar and interchangeable. For instance, most recently, we became aware of a San Diego startup organization that tried to develop a telehealth application using an off-shore development team, that promised to develop the application for very low development costs, due to the re-use of existing components. A year later, they are suing this development organization, for non-performance.
